Thornhill Town
00, Great Western Railway, 11.5
foot by 2 foot
Guest layout
Thornhill
Town is the latest layout to be built by Nick Gibson, a member of the Hampton
and District Model Railway Society, and also a member of the White House Model
Railway Group.
The layout is 11 foot 6 inches long and was designed as a GWR Branch Line
Terminus with the station area based loosely on Bodmin town. A four road fiddle
yard leads to 2 platform faces, one
which includes a run round loop along with 2 sidings, one which has a goods
shed. In addition a small kickback siding has been included which has a cattle
dock however this siding can be extend to run onto one of several proposed
scenic boards which will fit in front of the fiddle yard.
Due to the layouts size it is envisaged that passenger trains consisting of a
maximum of 2 coaches and a tank locomotive and goods trains of up to 7 wagons
will be run. Stock from other railway companies or eras could also be run.
