Bietatalbahn
H0, Deutsche Reichsbahn
Description
The Bietatalbahn is a minor branch into the Bietatal Valley built to
serve the farms and quarry in the valley. The East German railway
was surprisingly called Die Reichbahn (The Imperial Railway).
Authorities in East Germany saw the Reichbahn’s main role as moving
goods so the layout has a relatively frequent goods service.
Passenger services are provided by railcars – called ferkeltaxi
(piglet taxi). In practise, the Valley has developed without the
help of the Railway.
