Border changes after both the First and Second World Wars left several minor stations as the termini of branches.
Rhumspring on a cross country line from Ölmühle to Nordhausen became the West German terminus when the
'Iron Curtain' fell. In part the branch was saved by the traffic from the Ellerite Works.
