henllys
00 and 00n9, Great Western Railway/British Railways (Western Region),
Narrow gauge industrial railway, 12 @ 3 foot
The Twrch is a tributary of the Tawe [Swansea] River and lies on the boarder
between the Brecon Beacons and the 'Valleys' [industrial South Wales]. The
valley is a natural route between Swansea & Beacon and has an interesting
industrial history [see Industrial archaeology of Cwm
Twrch by Dilys Powell].
The second of four layout related to the valley Henllys represents a rural halt
with loading dock and quarry loader. The halt is not a
block post so is unsignalled with points operated by point leavers unlocked by a
key on the train staff with the loop serving the loading dock is a double ended
siding
The photos follow a push pull towards Brecon and then show the halts goods
